Collaboration with Teachers and Families:
Occupational therapists work closely with teachers to create individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with specific needs. They provide input on accommodations or modifications needed to help the student succeed.
OTs also provide support and training for parents to help reinforce skills at home, ensuring consistency and continuity in the child's development.
Goals of OT in Schools:
The ultimate goal of school-based occupational therapy is to help students develop the skills necessary to participate fully in their education and daily activities, enhancing their academic performance and social engagement. This is done through fostering independence, self-confidence, improving the ability to complete tasks both inside and outside of the classroom, and supporting overall physical, cognitive, and emotional development.
Our services:
We offer comprehensive support services designed to promote student success and enhance classroom outcomes. Our services include hands-on training and resources for educators, including shoe-tying instruction for kindergarten and first-grade students, sensory groups tailored to student needs, and classroom tools aligned with the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.
Our goal is to empower both students and educators with practical strategies and resources that foster learning, independence, and inclusion. From early motor skill development to sensory integration and classroom management solutions, we are here to support the unique needs of each student and learning environment.
